The Merc has a nice article on Gwendolyn Mok, a professor (and pianist) at San Jose State University.

(I’ve never met her, but I can tell you she and I shared a mailbox when I taught at SJSU last year. I know you needed to know that.)

She is putting together a series of concerts on the history of the piano, and the concerts will include different keyboards. Works will be played on the piano of the compositions’ times. Should be interesting. You can hear the clavichor, harpsichord, fortepiano and Erard (this last instrument is one I’ve never heard of).

Anyway, read the article. You might want to attend some of these concerts! (You may have to register to read the article.)
