Tonight during intermission I heard a voice from above. (Yes, I hear voices. Frequently.) I looked up, and there was Kevin M., along with his cute daughter. Kevin is someone I went to junior high and high school with. (I recall calling him with a friend when I was in junior high, as I had a crush on him. Well, okay, I have to admit I had a crush on nearly every boy when I was that age! But, moving this ramble along, his mother told my friend and I that we shouldn’t call him; boys were to call girls, not the other way around. My, how times have changed!) Anyway, I saw him—was it last year or the year before?—at Nutcracker, I believe. But aside from these two encounters we hadn’t seen each other since we graduated from high school.

Kevin, if you’re reading this, thanks for saying hi and it was great to see you and your daughter!

Soon another person I know, Susan, from a church I used to attend, came down to the front to greet me as well. I know she doesn’t read this blog, and I forgot to even mention it today. Ah well. I suspect this blog isn’t all that interesting for the majority of the world. (Can you believe that? Gee.)

But what fun to see people I know! Of course I first think, “Oh, I hope I don’t look horribly old. And I hope I’m not as unkempt as I feel!” You know me … always looking at the most positive side of things.

But really, it adds something to a show, knowing there are friends in the audience!

Moving along …
My wish for tonight and tomorrow morning: I would love to not have “Whistle a Happy Tune” in my head as I go to sleep and when I wake.

Fat chance having that wish fulfilled.

“I spent most of that time preparing – playing the piano, learning the violin, having conducting lessons, reading about him, listening to all of his music – just to try to fill myself up,” he said.

Yeah, but can he play oboe? Can he make a reed? Huh? Huh?
