What would you do
if they started to boo
and whistled (not in a good way)?
Would you depart
and say “heck with this art!”
or would you be able to stay?
I wonder how strong I’d be
if they were booing me
I suspect I’d be running away.
We don’t do a whole lotta booing here in the good old US of A. I think we are too polite. Or too wimpy. Or maybe we just have tender hearts and wouldn’t want to hurt someone. But they aren’t so sweet in Italy, and one tenor decided he’d had it.
