Don’t ya just wonder about the writers of some songs? I mean … they just know how to express themselves. They state things plainly. They, in fact, hammer those things in your head.
Here, let me give you my “lyrics for the moment” as an example:
No time, no time, no time, no time
No time, no time, no time, no time
I got, got, got, got no time
I got, got, got, got no time
I got, got, got, got no time
No-no-no, no-no-no, no time
No-no-no, no-no-no, no time
I got, got, got, got no time
No-no-no, no-no-no, no-no-no,
no-no-no, no-no-no, no-no-no, no time
I got no time, got no time, got no time, got no time, got no time
Got no time, got no time
Wow. So insightful, yes?
I’m really looking forward to tomorrow, when I teach two students but I have TIME. Time can be a good thing.
Quotes on time:
Time heals all wounds. (Yeah. Right.)
They say that time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself. – Andy Warhol
Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that the stuff life is made of. -Benjamin Franklin
The future is something which everyone reaches at the rate of sixty minutes an hour, whatever he does, whoever he is. -C. S. Lewis
How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives. -Annie Dillard
Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so. -Douglas Adams
.. we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well. Yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number, really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, some afternoon that’s so deeply a part of your being that you can’t even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four or five times more. perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps twenty. And yet it all seems limitless. – Paul Bowles

“No Time” was a big hit for the “Guess Who” in the early 70’s. It was apparently drilled deep into my subconscious – I immediately recognized the song from your quote and then recalled the rest of the tune… some of which is:
(No time left for you) On my way to better things
(No time left for you) I found myself some wings
(No time left for you) Distant roads are callin’ me
(No time left for you) Da-un-da-un-da-un-da-un-da
No time for a summer friend
No time for the love you send
Seasons change and so did I
You need not wonder why
You need not wonder why
There’s no time left for you
No time left for you
I found it to be one of their better songs…
Oh believe me, I had the tune running through my head too! And because my brain was then taken back to the “good old days” I got other songs in this old brain. Right now it’s “Sign, sign, everywhere a sign. Blocking out the scenery breaking my mind Do this, don’t do that, can’t you read the sign. …”. Remember THAT one?! 🙂
