Here is a blog entry about summer music camps.

I do recommend summer music camps to students. I went to one with Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra in 1973 and I think that was the first time it really hit me that music is what I wanted to do forever. Some of the people who attended that music camp are in orchestras I now play in professionally. Funny how that works.

Gee, I think it would be fun to go to a summer music camp now!

  1. ah I have lots of good memories at summer camp – I went to Idyllwild, which I think is closer to LA. (It was a very long time ago.) There’s a weird masochistic joy that comes from playing music 6+ hours a day.

  3. I go to music camps every summer. You don’t have to be a kid, you know!

  4. Nope, I know. I just don’t have the income to allow for it, and I need to keep teaching. Maybe when we have no children in college …?
