I just read that Joyce DiDonato stumbled (fell?) at the opening night of Barber of Seville. She carried on, and sang beautifully from what I see in blogs and comments at her site.
But she didn’t sprain her ankle, as people thought and as the audience was told. She broke her fibula! You can read a bit about it here.
She’s right: no one should ever say “Break a leg!”
Ms. DiDonato is an incredible singer, with an amazing attitude and openness. I highly recommend reading her blog. I do wish her a very speedy recovery.
