Please consider yourself invited to my next operamission event which takes place this Friday and next – February 11 and 18, 2011, 8pm at the Gershwin Hotel in New York City, 7 E. 27th Street, just east of 5th Avenue.

kurt weill uncovered: in cabaret

I’ve asked two incredible artists to collaborate with me in creating a program unlike any other. The ‘operamission’ of bringing the art ‘from the composer to the audience’ will be in the form of an in-depth chronological exposé of composer Kurt Weill (1900-1950).

Soprano Marcy Richardson and baritone Ian Greenlaw have done some amazing work digging deeply and passionately into this repertoire with me. We are extremely excited to be bringing to musical life KW’s chronology in this very original way.

We are going for authenticity and directness. In order to present a full portrayal of all of KW’s styles, trials, and takes on love and politics, we’ve invited a glorious team of ‘guests’ to pop in and flesh out KW’s brilliant output of vocal works.

Please visit operamission.org/ for the complete list of ‘guests’ and their selections.

Whether you’re a hardcore Weill fan or not, we are promising a wonderfully varied and relaxed evening of super classy entertainment.

Come early to claim a seat, tickets are only $10, available at the door, and the cafe (Birch Coffee) off the lobby has delicious wine, beer, coffee, and even some light dinner options.

If you’re not in New York:

• Send your friends.

• Watch the live video stream at www.ustream.tv/channel/kurt-weill-uncovered – 8pm EST 2/11 & 18, a 2-hour show, we’ll go live at about 7:45.

We love you, KW.

– Jennifer

I’d sure be there if I could!
