Guillaume de Machaut (c. 1300 – April 1377): Messe de Nostre Dame

I’m putting up only three of the videos, but there are seventeen total! If you watch through number three you’ll see the fourth appear as an option to click. When that video finished the next appears, and so on. I recommend listening to all of them!

1 Gaudeamus omnes in domino

2 Kyrie

3 Gloria

  1. Machaut was my music history teacher’s favorite composer at CCM. He was fixated on the Middle Ages to the point of obsession. We spent almost all quarter on Machaut and then rushed to Bach at the last minute.

Very unsettling. Funny thing is, I don’t remember a darn thing about Machaut. I must have blocked it out.

  2. The older I get, the more I like older music. Go figure!

But it IS odd to touch on Bach at the last minute.
