Diana Ross’s voice on that song “You Can’t Hurry Love” is such a remarkable sound. So wonderfully bright and nasal, like a human oboe. And so thin and brittle, but supple at the same time. Like a twig that is still green and living but would snap if you bent it too far. Yeah, that’s kinda what it’s like. It’s even more like something else, but I can’t figure out what it is.
