There is nothing more painful than having to listen to [name here] practice her oboe for 45 min.

(I always find these ones a little sad … I pray this wasn’t a parent, as I would hope that parents would be the encouragers.)

  1. Hi–I also hope it wasn’t a parent. My children play bass, and I am so glad. I love hearing them play. Our main criteria in selecting a car is, “can it hold a bass?” Not to mention that with two bass fiddles in the house, you don’t have to worry about living room decor!

  2. It always makes me sad to read comments by parents that are so negative. I’m not sure this one was … it might have been a roommate. I just can’t remember at this point! But I have read parent’s Facebook comments that make me very sad.

Love your comments about the bass! 🙂

  3. I had a housemate that complained about me playing oboe a while ago… she moved out, thankfully. She didn’t just complain about the noise, also that it was bad and made snide-y comments about it. But she wasn’t a nice person in general either, so that’s probably it :p
But I feel like playing way more often since she moved out, so comments like this can really have a negative effect on your practising.

  4. I’m sorry you had to deal with that Eefje. What a horrible housemate to have! It’s good to hear that she’s moved out and you can enjoy practicing again. 🙂
