There is something about a conductor who also performs off the podium. It makes me feel as if maybe he or she will understand our positions a bit more. Of course Barenboim is soloing, which is different then sitting in a section, but I still really enjoy this. (This isn’t the entire work … I think you need to pay a fee to access that.)

… and is that a somewhat younger Albrecht Mayer on oboe? Indeed it is!
