Any oboe players out there? Can someone confirm for me that an oboe *cannot* be tuned in any meaningful way?


  1. Building an oboe is a game of physics give-and-take, so there are some notes flatter or less flexible than others. But an oboe is not fixed like a piano, of course. While playing, the necessity of constant flexibility is unavoidable in order to achieve just tuning. It is more important to train the ear than have “perfect” equipment.
