… and I think my kids might too!

… or I can’t be friends with you. Sorry.

This guy, David Newman, is fantastic and I wish I’d had him for theory. Maybe I would have actually learned … and remembered!

… and yes, there are more!

Enjoy! (And thanks to Bob Hubbard for this one!)

… I was planning on being a cello rock star.

(Kind of funny that they feature his musical theater singing but say he’s a classical music singer … but I love the joy and I love his attitude!)

Why am I here still? Because I love it!

We won’t all get to the Met. Or to New York Philharmonic. Or San Francisco Symphony. Or San Francisco Opera. Or any of the other major symphony or opera companies. We don’t do it because we have to get to those places. We do it because we love it.

Or at least I do, as does Mr. Blakeney.

It’s not often about fame and fortune. It’s frequently about love.

… and it starts when we are children. Sing young? You just might sing old, too. I hope so!

Good ol’ (young) PS22! I do believe they love their teacher … it sure looks that way!

So sing along if you know the tunes … you might smile!

“I feel … I feel … I feel happy of myself! … Everybody, I know you can believe in yourself. If you believe in yourself you will know how to ride a bike. … If you keep practicing you will get the hang of it and then you can get better and better at it …!”

Many thanks to Nicholas Phan for alerting me to this!

I love this story.

Twenty-year-old David Rocha dreams of one day becoming a professional violinist, but for now he plays for the community of Sao Miguel, a poor neighborhood outside Brazil’s largest city, Sao Paolo.

The collaboration involves 5th grade students in Beloit, the Beloit Janesville Symphony Orchestra, and Beloit Cable Access.

The goal was to provide the music background for a claymation video produced by a Beloit College student. Once the kids created the music, Rob Tomaro of the Beloit Symphony Orchestra wrote the score while the orchestra performed the piece.

Dave Knutson of Beloit Cable Access submitted a documentary of the process to the Wisconsin Association of PEG channels and won the “achievement of excellence” award.

I read it here.
