You can watch the Tchaikovsky Competition online, and it’s streaming live at certain times of day. Since it’s in Russia you can watch much of it in the morning here. Piano, violin, cello and voice … you choose! Just go here to start.

I love hearing such fine musicians. I’m not as thrilled with competition, but oh well! I guess it’s good for the winners.

A favorite conductor of mine, Constantine Kitsopoulos, writes:

Dear All, Tonight I’ll be conducting Giancarlo Menotti’s “The Last Savage” for IU Opera Theatre at 8pm. Ned Canty is the director and it’s the IU Symphony Orchestra in the pit and a wonderful group of IU singers on the stage. To see the live stream use the following link:

Yes, this is tonight. Of course you need to adjust for the time diff wherever you might be. 8:00 PM is EST. You can do the math … right? 🙂

(Sadly I teach until 6:00 … rats!)

Really … click on this link as they have a concert going on right now. I’m listening to Beethoven’s Piano Concert NO. 3 at the moment, with Yefim Bronfman at the piano. And yes, I see the oboist! Nice!

It’s very cool that you can read the program notes as the work continues … what a great way to learn!
