Reed Making is a challenge. There is no question about that. I am at a point where, having found a wonderful reed maker, I frequently use her reeds. I still believe it is very important for all oboists to learn to make their reeds, in order to understand how they work, and learn how to make adjustments. Because of that, I have written a book that I have now made available for purchase in pdf form.

My reed making tutorial begins after the shaping process. It is directed at beginning reed makers, as it’s best to begin with gouged, shaped and folded cane when you are just starting out.
