You can find my email address on my site, Amy. Feel free to send me a note. I had to remove your URL, as it appeared to be a commercial link.
I enjoyed the movie A Late Quartet.
I’ve heard good things about that movie, Alice, and some bad as well: some musicians found it to be untrue to the profession. I guess I’ll have to watch it to find out what I think! 🙂
I really enjoyed “A Late Quartet” with Christopher Walken.
I’ve heard good and bad about it, KJC: most of my music colleagues said it was untrue to our profession. Most who weren’t in the business loved it. I guess I need to watch it for myself. Maybe I’ll even write about it, then. 🙂
PS I’m trying to figure out why there is such a LONG email address attached to your name. Very odd!
I did read some reviews to that effect–mostly that the actors didn’t mimic playing the instruments correctly, that they spent too much time together outside of the quartet and that the music itself was problematic. However, relationships in Hollywood movies are melodramatic, exaggerated and seldom reflect real life any way. I do think the movie captured the spirit of the depth of seriousness, talent and love these characters had for the music and the sacrifices that were made–which I can imagine is similar to real life, at least I would hope so! I just thought that Walken was really great and the story line associated with his character was also, but I can be a sappy romantic. It would bother me too if many of the details and even music choices were incorrect. You’re right that I’m not musically sophisticated enough to catch these kind of details and maybe that’s a good thing in this case! I don’t know why my e-mail address was so long. It’s just a short gmail address with my first and last name… I’d post it here but then I’d invite everyone to e-mail me.
I’m SURE that movies in any specialty would be troublesome to people IN that specialty. I have heard that doctors frequently roll their eyes at TV shows about medicine. Go figure! I can’t speak to the move because I’ve yet to see it, but when I do I’ll let you know what I think! 🙂
Your email address isn’t long this time. It’s a mystery! 😉
