Mendelssohn: Heilig
The Choir of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin; Dr. David Hurd, Music Director

Heilig, heilig, heilig, ist Gott, der Herr Zebaoth!
Alle Lande sind seiner Ehre voll.
Hosianna in der Höh’!
Gelobt sei, der da kommt im Namen des Herrn!
Hosianna in der Höh’!

Holy, holy, holy is God, the Lord Sabaoth!
The whole earth is full of your glory.
Sing Hosanna in the heights.
Blest is he that comes in the name of the Lord.
Sing Hosanna in the heights.

(I continue to try and find these virtual choir performances, but it’s possible I’ll have to do something new soon: I am not finding as many these days.)

I have to force myself to go outside and walk these days. This is something I normally love doing. Thankfully I have an encourager here who does suggest I head on out, and I usually take his advice. And then yes, I think to myself, “What a Wonderful World”.

Hope Lingers On
Music by Lissa Schneckenburger
Arranged by Andrea Ramsey

Sung by the Augustana College Summer Virtual Choir 2020
Augustana College
Rock Island, Illinois

This video was recorded by some of the
incoming first-year students at
Augustana College in Rock Island Illinois.

Before recording this project,
these students had never met or sung together.

The choir met to discuss the piece and
work on preparation in five one-hour virtual sessions.

This video is the culmination of their
hard work and dedication to choral music.

As arranger Andrea Ramsey suggests in
the introduction to the score, we find this piece
to be a heartfelt, timely, and determined call for optimism.

The King’s Singers

In case you haven’t noticed, all my Sunday music now features virtual groups. I am attempting to do this until we are no longer to remain isolated. As long as groups post them, I can manage this. Some groups, like the King’s Singers, will be professional. Others will not. I just want to stick to my, “It has to be done during the time of Covid-19” thing if I’m able.
