I’ve written before about the Really Terrible Orchestra. This is a year old article, but still fun to read. (Hey, DK, didn’t you read some of his books? And now to find out the guy plays bassoon. Hmm.)

  1. I enjoy Alexander McCall’s books very much; I’m always scouring the library shelves for ones I haven’t read yet. I was pleasantly surprised to find out he’s a bassoonist (of sorts). Have you heard the orchestra? Are they really that bad?

  2. Are they really terrible? I dunno. You can see and hear small trumpet fanfare on YouTube and their own site has some sound clips. You tell me! 🙂

  3. well, I’ve heard worse, that’s for sure (like junior high bands)! I think that horrible arrangement of Yellow Submarine makes them sound a lot worse. The problem with a group like this, is that if they don’t watch it, they might start getting better and then they’d just be mediocre— and where’s the draw in that? Like P.T. Barnum said, “Nobody’s going to pay to see the world’s tallest midget”.
