The UCSC Woodwind Quintet played in the chamber music concert tonight and did an excellent job. Congratulations to all of you! The Ibert was great!

One thing made me laugh a little. The “Contemporary Music Ensemble” was there to perform as well. The work they chose? It was written in 1964.

Okay then. So when does a piece no longer get called “contemporary”.

Or perhaps the “contemporary” in their name is referring to the players?
