San Francisco Opera is doing Elixir. We are doing Elixir. Theirs is taking place in Napa. Ours in “The Valley of Heart’s Delight”. Theirs took place in 1915 . Ours? Early 20th century.
You can see both acts done Northwestern University School of Music style via YouTube. They appear to take place in the old west. Hmmm.

I was happy to discover, in the first meeting with our director, that ours takes place in 1895 (I had originally heard early 20th century). I think it was moved because they needed a reason to have soldiers, so they chose the Spanish-American War (whereas SFO has WWI).
See? COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! 🙂
Well now … that changes everything! AND we are “ahead” of them, too. 😉
