Bastille Day

I don’t think there’s an ounce of French in my blood. But it’s Bastille Day so here you go:

I didn’t know the words to this before. I’d been told the US national anthem was the only one that was at all violent. Hmmm.

    Ha! The Marseillaise has our national anthem beat by miles. I remember learning it in high school French. I actually asked the teacher “Am I translating this right? Does it really say that the impure blood will drench our furrows?” And the part about the soldiers slitting the throats of your sons and wives… The Star Spangled Banner is completely tame by comparison.
