I put this video up in December, but I thought I’d post it again, as I love watching it myself, and I’m guessing some readers may have missed it.

… and don’t you love the rollers between the C/C#/E flat keys? ‘Bout time?!

I also love what he has to say about where our sound comes from. As I tell my students, I can pick up someone else’s oboe and reed and I’ll still sound like me.

Many thanks to David Mankin of oboerista for reminding me of this video via his Facebook post.

Here’s more on the album the video above mentioned:

For a while now I’ve been enjoying Husband Amused. Alexander Miller is an oboist. He’s also been recovering from brain surgery. Whenever I feel like whining I only have to read a blog like his to think “Oh, get over it!”

Not that I won’t still whine. It’s what I do. And I do it well.

But check out his blog. It’s a fascinating read. It’s also informative. And very amusing. 🙂

Happy Birthday, Brandon! I’m so glad you were born.

(For those of you not in the know, Brandon is our older son. He is also “Altair Nouveau”.)

Hey! Where’s the oboe?!
