Jeffrey Brown talks to master lyricist Stephen Sondheim about his new book, “Finishing the Hat.” I love when he talks about rhyme! So true that rougher and suffer is better than rougher and tougher! 🙂
Oh … and “I write lying down so I can fall asleep.” Hah! (Maybe I should make reeds lying down …?)

Good interview… certain questions omitted… on being a gay icon? on being one of the few people to make money on bway and in the arts? more on the economics of the theatre and the industry? more on musical composition? anyway. I guess we only had 16 minutes.
I wonder if they’ll ever put up a longer interview … but really, I really enjoyed what he had to say. (He’s my fave, needless to say.)
Hmmm … but they DO say “FULL interview” …
I’m assuming, Jack, that you are a Sondheim fan as well then? Do you enjoy any others? (I really like Guettel.)
