I just read on Facebook that oboist Alfred Genovese has died.

  1. His late 50s/early 60’s recording of the Dvorak Serenade was one of the influences that pushed me into a career as an oboist. What a great musician!

  2. That Dvorak recording was at Marlboro in 1957. He had toncilitis and a 104-degree fever. Amazing.

  3. Wow, that IS amazing, Jeff. Thanks for the info!
