… I don’t know their ages, but these younger musicians do quite a fine job!

Wow, what an amazing group of musicians! Very much enjoyed this video – thank you for sharing it.
As a beginner oboist (high school and church orchestra experience of a few years) which oboe would you recommend? I’m interested in purchasing a new one and I don’t want to waste money on a sub-par instrument.
Also, (sorry to be a bother) but I desperately need good reeds. These store bought ones are the pits! I’d love to make my own, but I’m not sure where to even begin.
Sorry to be responding so late … just hadn’t seen this comment.
Oboes: I highly recommend you talk with your oboe instructor about an oboe since people have strong opinions about them! We don’t just blindly purchase, but get a few and test them out. If you can do so in a hall that’s great. If not, just be sure to get other people’s opinions. There are several sites that talk about purchasing an oboe and if you google about buying one I’m sure you’ll come up with them.
Reed are definitely a challenge. You could try reedpros Superior reeds or Double or Nothing’s reeds. They are so personal and I’d need to see how you play to really recommend something.
All the best!
