Grant them eternal rest, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.

Oh. She (or he) isn’t allowed to sing. Or at least she has to be careful about her dress.
As per our highly selective casting requirements for vocal artists taking on a prominent leading role on stage, only singers who are physically fit and slim (or at the very least, those who know how to dress strategically/suitably in order to not bring attention to their temporary physical/dietary indulgences) would be showcased with our boutique orchestras.
Eek!
I read it here.

Normally we don’t do this … if someone doesn’t come in on a solo, the solo is just missing. It would be rude, for instance, for me to play the principal oboist’s part without her permission and encouragement. (If she suddenly had a coughing fit or something I suppose she might ask me to play … but that’s never happened and I’m happy about that!) But in this case I read that the conductor yelled for someone to sing the soprano solo in Aida because the soloist was AWOL. A violinist stood and did the job.
And she did it well.
Brava, Jennifer Lindsay. I’m impressed!
I was in the fifth grade, and I was trying out different instruments. At first, I tried trumpet, and I was going to go with it, but then they told me I needed to try the oboe because of my straight A’s.
I’ll just leave this with no comment. Aside from commenting to say “no comment,” that is.
