This is long … a FULL concert for this Pentecost Sunday.

From the YouTube Page:

Calmus: Prayer
Concert on Whitsunday

A warm welcome to our third online concert. We broadcast this from the Heilandskirche in Leipzig, Germany. After nearly seven weeks break from doing music we have started to sing together again – with distance.

It is a contemplative hour with spiritual music by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Heinrich Schütz and Josef Gabriel Rheinberger. Three composers who will make pentecost shine with their pure and vivid music.

The concert starts with the hymn of the day „Veni creator spiritus“ (all ecumenical with the Gregorian and Luthers version) and it ends with the „Prayer for the Healing of the Sick“.

You can find a detailed program with texts here: https://bit.ly/2XLUhSa

Again we offer those watching who have not been affected by the crisis financially the opportunity to purchase a virtual ticket for this concert. By doing so you support us directly and help us make up for some of the immense financial losses as a result of concert cancelations.

That solo. Well, it IS all about English horn this time!

Written as a reflection on his first experiences in the United States, Dvo?ák’s Ninth Symphony is also known as the New World Symphony. Drawing on his own experience in lockdown, our Principal Cor Anglais Alexandre Oguey has made his own arrangement of the famous symphony for five cor anglais with a very fitting name – ‘New Isolation Symphony’.

Here is a glimpse into what I do. I’m not sure if this video will be up for long — it’s part of a special event tonight, but who knows?! Certainly I don’t!

If you can’t play with an orchestra at the moment, just become one yourself. Right?

Well, maybe if you are Diana Doherty.

English Translation:

DIE GANG (The Corridor):
In the dark corridor I saw a light, but the flame was delicate and frail.
I yearned for springtime on my uncle’s farm without electricity.
My aunt said, “My child, my child, love and moths are blind.”
The flame is delicate and frail, and like a thief it can disappear in the night.
Deep within the corridor I yearned for something.
The wind was singing that spring would bring love.
I could hear the day withering – it was only the sun disappearing.
And as certain as the earth that turns, a cock would crow again.
One evening the night turned to day as the storm erupted with all its force.
And I hid in the corridor, because I was afraid of the electricity.

KLEIN TAMBOTIEBOOM (a farm in the Limpopo Province of South Africa):
When the shadows come to fetch me, and when the good Lord does not look out for me,
when the ozone layer perishes
and falls into a chandelier of stars,
lay my heart to rest in Klein Tambotieboom and scatter my ashes across the Bushveld horizon.

Pepper Choplin: We are not alone

I have the privilege of working with The SymphoNYChorus of New York, New York, and The New West Symphony & Chorus of Calgary, Alberta. My good friend Henric Ideström conducts them both, and I have recorded albums for both groups. In this time of self isolation, we brought together 70 singers from both groups
