Matthieu LaTreille: Come, My Way, My Truth, My Life
Virtual Choir & String Ensemble

(Many thanks to Ron Kelly for bringing this video to my attention.)

From the YouTube Page:
I composed this work to celebrate the bicentennial anniversary of St. Thomas’ Anglican Church in Belleville, Ontario, Canada in 2018. It is based on a sacred poem by George Herbert (1633).

Come, my Way, my Truth, my Life:
Such a Way, as gives us breath:
Such a Truth, as ends all strife:
Such a Life, as killeth death.

Come, My Light, my Feast, my Strength:
Such a Light, as shows a feast:
Such a Feast, as mends in length:
Such a Strength, as makes his guest.

Come, my Joy, my Love, my Heart:
Such a Joy, as none can move:
Such a Love, as none can part:
Such a Heart, as joys in love.

  1. I find the spirituality of George Herbert deeply moving. I have heard this set to another tune in the Anglican hymnal. This setting has an immensity that works sublimely well with the prayer and with the situation of isolation we all find ourselves in.
