We sit down to the meal
of meat, baguettes, and Cabernet.
The lamb calls out for our hunger.
Fragrant bread is warmed and sliced,
while the brimming carafe waits
for overconsumption.
We pass the meat, break bread,
pour the wine, and eat.
Slurping and chewing, we loudly
proclaim freedom and joy
as saliva drips down our chins
and crimson stains the linen.

Miserere nobis.
